Are you really living for Jesus and the eternal kingdom?

Many people think that yes they are indeed living a good life for Jesus christ. Other people think yes I am going to heaven, but are you really 100% sure your going to heaven or  yes I am living correctly for Jesus following him every day of my life? There are many misconceptions about Christianity, first one is that it is a religion full of so called “boring rules with no fun or a cult. First Christianity is not at all a religion or a cult it is a personal relationship with the lord Jesus christ and a full life commitment of following Jesus daily. Now you may ask yourself then how should my lifestyle be to follow Jesus, well, first and foremost people tend to twist the Bible to fit there lifestyle which God says is wrong, for example people say that saying God’s name in vain is okay which you should never do as a true follower of Jesus and others say abortion is okay and or that homosexuality is not a sinful lifestyle(I will talk about that in other articles) but the truth is, is that yes those are sinful behaviors.

Let’s start out with biblical passages about living for Jesus. Matthew 5:38-42 in these Jesus talks about getting revenge, the scripure is 38 you have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. 39 but I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 and if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. About the shirt that can be said as a metaphor as Jesus used alot of metaphors in the Bible, what he is saying is that instead of getting even or getting revenge we should relax and let God handle it on the day of judgement, for he is the ultimate judge and if they want to get doing horrible things just let God handle it and you should not worry about taking revenge, but that is a whole different thing than defending yourself.

Next in the next scripture down still in Matthew in Matthew 5:43-48 Jesus says to love your enimies so instead of only loving those who love you and hating those who hurt you, I know in can seem hard but try to pray for those who wrong you and love your enemies, this is what Jesus means by love every body, there is more biblical scripture in this in 1st john. In Matthew 5:44 Jesus says but I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.  So this paragraph, to sum it up is saying always to show love to everyone in the world no matter how hard it is and to keep hatred out your heart, and to pray for those who harm you.

Next I will go over what God says about homosexuality and sexual sin, this is something people don’t talk about, but it  needs to be talked about, first we will discuss the very controversial topic of homosexuality. Here are some scripture about how God views it: 1 Timothy 1:8-11 we know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We know that the law is made not for the righteous but for the lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers and mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and Liars and perjurers- and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. Those scriptures can be found in the Bible new international version. Alot of people think we should keep these opinions to ourselves but the thing is is that this lifestyle is sinful we should love those who commit this sinful act, but we should not accept this lifestyle. Those who practice it can not be Christian because gay marriage is a sin and as Christians we have to repent from all sin, which means to avoid at all times from sinning on purpose.

If you practice homosexuality, that would be sinning on purpose which would mean that you would not make it to heaven. I am aware that it is a sensitive subject but we have to stand up for the truth. More verses on homosexuality will be found in: it was either leviticus 18:22 or 22:18, and in Romans and 1 Corinthians. The same goes with it being a choice and not born this way, the Bible says its normal to have attractions of the same gender, like oh there handsom, or she’s pretty, but it is a choice to act on those thoughts and date someone of the same sex, that is a choice to live that sinful lifestyle.

The next section here will deal with, partying, drinking and getting drunk, and drugs etc… The bible says a lot throughout the new testament that our bodies are a temple of God and that we should honor God with our bodies, that means that we should not be getting into drugs and night clubs, stripping ect, which can and most likely will lead to sexual sin which we should not be living in that lifestyle and should stay away from it entirely! With drinking, having a drink every now and then is not sinful, but being an alcoholic and drinking just to get waisted and drunk alot to solve problems is not okay in gods eyes we should go to him instead and he will truly solve all our problems.

Some Christians think you should never ever drink at all or it’s okay to which is just a personal choice but the Bible makes it clear on what’s acceptable and what’s not. These verses and scripture here will go over all that, 1 thessolonians 5:5-9, luke 21:34, Roman’s 13:13, galatians 5:21, Titus 1:7, 1 Peter 4:3. Galatians 5:19-21 states: verse 19, the acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immortality, impurity and debauchery;verse 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissension, factions, verse 21,and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. From that scripture we can see that all that stuff is sinful, but realize that if you have done these things you can be forgiven through Jesus christ and he will forgive and cleanse you of your sins, but don’t think that you can’t have a drink every know and then. People think that Christians can’t still have fun but they can, just be sure to still make sure Jesus is okay with what your doing!

Another thing as Christians we should do in our lifestyle is watch and control our language meaning cursing, gossip and the way we talk about other people. The Bible has a lot to say about language and the power of the tongue when I first started reading the Bible I was surprised to hear what it has to say. Starting off with saying God’s name in Vain, now saying praise the lord Jesus christ is one thing we should honor his holy name. Saying Jesus christ out of anger, as a curse word, is disgraceful to Jesus. Misusing his name is a sinful gesture. The same with saying God darnit. It’s a horrible thing to say out of anger and we should never use it name out of anger. Saying “Oh my God” is also misusing his name. There many things you can say instead including: oh my gosh, oh my word,oh my goodness, etc. Those are things a true follower of christ should always avoid saying.

A christian should never be heard talking bad about people and then turn around and act all sweet. Why would a christian curse gods name and be dropping f bombs with the same mouth they praise and worship God with? We should stay holy and pure and follow christ as close as we can as we know that life is and should be about Jesus and giving God glory and praise. Most likely it is a very difficult thing to quit cursing, but it’s worth it to live for Jesus, which he says in the Bible we should be willing to leave a sinful past behind to follow him, but we should not judge when People cuss or condemn them to hell, because that is not our business or job that is God’s all we can do is pray and lead by example as we model Jesus every day.

If you are into these sinful things and want to change or don’t, I just want to let you that you can change all you have to do is put your faith in Jesus and the holy spirit will change you completely! God loves you so very much and desires you to change your life around and commit to following him and to give up these sinful lifestyles and get saved. I have an article already up about how to get saved and repent.

Some scripture and verses about the tongue and language I will list below. Colossians 3:8, ephesians 4:29, Matthew 12:36-37, james 3:10, Matthew 15: 10-11, ephesians 5:4, James 1:26, proverbs 21:23, and exodus 20:7. Here I will write what some of the verses say. Colossians 3:8 but now you must also rid yourself of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Ephesians 4:29 do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benifit those who listen. James 1:26 those who consider themselves religious and yet do do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves and their religion is worthless. Proverbs 21:23 those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity. Exodus 20:7 you shall not misuse the name of the lord your God, for the lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. And the last one I will write out is Matthew 12:36-37 but I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgement for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your works you will be condemned.

Thank you and God bless anyone who reads this. I encourage you to pick up a Bible, in a version you can understand and I garauntee the Bible will change your life. I also encourage you to seek Jesus and just try to live for him. I can tell you that you won’t regret it!
