Christian Values Should Guide our Political Choices

I know, I know, religion and politics don’t mix, but religion doesn’t get you to heaven. Believing Jesus Christ is the son of God and that he died on the cross for us, then giving your heart and life to him does. Once saved, everything you do should reflect your walk with Christ. Every critical choice you face should be prayed over before you make it, no matter how big or small, why? Because nothing is too big or small for our Lord and Savior. Included in these choices are the political candidates we vote for. Why? We owe it to our kids to leave this world better than how we found it.

The United States of America was founded on Christian principles to protect the rights given to us by God. The Declaration of Independence mentions God four times because the founding fathers understood our freedom and independence was the will of our creator. In my opinion, being born in the United States of America is a gift from God because I can openly worship him freely. If we want to maintain that right we must choose our candidates based on our Christian values. It’s a decision we need to pray over so God can guide our choice. It would be wonderful and easy if our candidates were both men of God, but that isn’t usually how it is.

Our country has seen a steady decline in morality and it seems to be getting worse by the day. what was right has seemingly now become wrong, and what was wrong has seemingly become right. I never thought I would have to raise my kids in a world where people would actively justify the murdering of babies for convenience and profit. Where people would fight to repackage child molesting as a sexual preference. This is a result of having too many corrupt politicians and lawmakers who were appointed by those same politicians. That is a result of our society turning away from God.

The Light in The Darkness

No matter how hopeless things seem, there is hope. God works all things together for good. We just need to have faith and pray because he is in control. The 2020 Presidential election will be the most important one in our lifetime. It’s much more than Democrat versus Republican, it’s a spiritual battle of Good versus Evil. The challenger represents a party that is determined to remove God from the public square, they despise our freedoms, and our way of life. They put minimal value on new life. They are only concerned with power and control.

The incumbent isn’t perfect and has a questionable past, but proved to be a man of his word throughout his first term. He has stood up for God, this country, Israel, and our freedoms, all while under constant attack from the opposition. Many Christians I know believe that God is using this man for his purposes. Still, our country is at a crossroads. We need God more than ever in this most critical election. God is the light in the darkness and always has been. We as Christians need to pray before we vote and let God guide our choices for our leaders. We also need to pray that God will protect this country from the evil that is trying to destroy it. Let’s also pray for those that are under the influence of that evil, that they can break the chains that hold them and find freedom in Christ.

  1. Very true. Our World as we have been accustomed to is flipping upside down. We should all have our knees touch the floor before making our final decision.
