My journey to faith

My name is Brandon, I am 16 years old, and I am Brian’s son. I’m the second writer here and it’s my first time blogging . I’m happy to say that I am a sinner saved by the grace of Jesus being crucified.

All of my life I’ve been a Christian and a believer. From the time I was born my grandmother has always willingly shared her faith in God with me. My parents are believers and have taught me as well. Then I drifted kind of like my dad did. I believed but did not make christ the center of my life as much as a should have.

In sixth grade I was really curious about the bible and started asking questions. By 7th grade I got baptized and we went to church for a little. Back in August of 2018 I switched schools and started going to a Bible study.

Something in that Bible study sparked me and I got more faithful. I got back into the bible and started reading a lot more verses on my own. Then I started getting anxiety about life after death and I don’t really remember what triggered it.

One night I prayed to God that he would end that worry for me. A day or two later we were talking in the living room. My mother was talking about her grandpa and what happened during his heart surgery.

He was in anesthesia, had a heart attack during surgery and died. The doctors said they lost him for a maybe a minute or two. He said he was able to look down and see them shocking his heart, and got choked up over it. Then they got him back. My mother told me this on December 8, 2018 I remember the day very well.

This story reassured my hope eternal life. John 3:16 confirmed it. If you believe in me you shall not perish but have everlasting life. At that moment I started becoming a lot more spiritual. The moment I heard that story about my great-grandfather my anxiety disappeared. I truly believe that was God answering that prayer.

From that point on, I started reading testimonies of people who have came back from the dead and have seen heaven and also hell. This made my faith stronger than ever in God’s promise of eternal life. All we have to do is accept Jesus which I will talk about in my next blog.

I have now read all but one book of the bible, since I started reading it last March. The bible has changed my life and given me an amazing amount of joy and peace. If you haven’t started reading it yet, I encourage you to. The results will be incredible. Thank you for reading my journey of faith. If you have any questions I will be glad to write about it!

  1. Amen Brandon! Praising God for your testimony, brother! You are right, believers in Jesus do not need to fear death! His perfect love drives out fear and nothing can snatch us out of His hand! I have a testimony similar to your Grandpa’s. On 4-28-2012 I stopped breathing due to anaphylactic shock, I died for a short time and I was with Jesus in perfect peace, then God saved me by a miracle of the Holy Spirit and put me back in my body! You can read all about it in my post “My Lazarus Moment.” You can type the title in the search box on my blog and it will come up. God bless you and your family!

      1. I just now read it, what an amazing testimony! I know some people think it hurts to leave your body, but it seems like it’s a peaceful floating feeling
